3:30-4:45 Session A: Learning session on MoDOT’s Consent Decree with the USEPA and DOJ and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans

The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission agreed to enter into a Consent Decree with the US Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Justice in 2015.  We will discuss what events occurred prior to get MoDOT to this point as well as what requirements are involved with a consent decree.  We will also discuss Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP): what is a SWPPP, what is included in a SWPPP, and why SWPPPs are important.

3:30-4:45 Session B: Community engagement session on the EcoBlock concept

The EcoBlock concept includes renovation of vacant buildings and land in a city's urban core, utilizing net zero energy and water technologies for mixed-income residents and small businesses using a custom developed form-based EcoCode. Our concept promotes social and environmental equity, and is centered around shared space and common resources.
