Creating a Beloved Community - A Public Forum to Present the Findings of the Missouri Civic Health Index

In observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, on Saturday, January 18, the United Way of Greater St. Louis, Washington University in St. Louis, Saint Louis University, the University of Missouri – St. Louis, and Missouri State University, will present the findings of the 2012 Missouri Civic Health Assessment, a study of civic participation in the St. Louis region and across Missouri. Civic Health is measured using four broad categories: Social Capital; Non-political Civic Participation; Electoral and Non-Electoral Political Participation; and Confidence in Institutions. Honoring the tradition of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. forum participants will enjoy breakfast together while engaging in civic dialogue aimed at generating mutual understanding and a commitment to continued service. Two calls-to-action will immediately follow the interactive presentation. Forum participants will complete on-site service projects at the event, and an agency resource fair will connect participants to community resources and opportunities to engage in future volunteer projects. This event will honor the diverse history of St. Louis, celebrating its 250th anniversary in 2014, by inspiring people to engage in purposeful service projects aimed at restoring the physical and socio-economic fabric of St. Louis communities. Event is 9:00 to 11:30 AM, including a breakfast, panel of experts, table topic roundtable discussions, and agency and volunteer resource fair.
