OneSTL (working toward regional sustainability)
OneSTL is a collaboration to encourage and support greater sustainability within the eight-county St. Louis region. OneSTL launched in 2010 when eleven organizations partnered on a grant to create a regional plan for sustainable development. East-West Gateway Council of Governments, the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the St. Louis Region, led the effort with the intention of:
- Building local and regional leaders’ capacity to implement sustainable practices by sharing knowledge, best practices, and resources
- Connecting local, regional, state, and federal planning efforts
- Making federal and local investments more effective and efficient
The Plan was completed in 2013 and laid out a vision for a prosperous, healthy, and vibrant region. After a 2017 regional Sustainability Summit, participants formed six Working Groups to focus on specific targets in the following areas:
- Biodiversity
- Energy and Emissions
- Food Access
- Materials and Recycling
- Transit-Oriented Development
- Water and Green Infrastructure
